A few days ago, an X account called The Great Patriot dropped a bombshell: leaked audio of Labour Councillor Susanna Pressel  fantasising about the police “lying in wait” to "nab" campaigners who raise British flags in Oxford.

How does she describe patriots who just want to see our national flag fluttering in the breeze in our towns and cities?

“Bastards.”

Her word, not ours.

What does she want to do about it?

Like her party leader Sir Keir Starmer, she wants to use the machinery of the state to clamp down on flag raisers - or as she put it, 'lie in wait to nab them.'

When she let rip about British flag flyers, Pressel clearly thought she was in a safe space.

Doubtless, she was surrounded by other socialists. Alas, someone was listening, and someone was recording.

Anxious to be fair to the lady, Watchman decided to pay her a friendly visit. After all, maybe she had just been having a bad day. It seemed only fair to give her the opportunity to withdraw the remarks -or at least explain herself.

So we set off to the leafy surburb of Oxford where she lives (nice big house) to ask some  straightforward questions.

What we got in return was exactly what you’d expect from these types: no apology, no reflection, and not a shred of remorse. Just quiet contempt and refusal to take responsibility.

This is the mindset sitting comfortably inside local government. Let's keep exposing it.
